Arkansas - September and October hoppers and streamers against the banks. With no Gen you can wade, with generation it is drift or jet boat only. Big Browns and stocker bows. I am going with some folks September 2-6th.

I'll be in the Conejos, CO drainage in a few weeks and report back. They need some water pretty badly.

Backpacking and camping..... Yellowstone comes to mind. Also the Gunnison drainage in CO. Taylor River, Gunnison, East, Sprign creek, Lake Fork Gunnison, Cebolla Creek, etc. I am sure you could spend an entire summer and only see 10% of it. If you want to float - do the Black Canyon or Gunni Gorge float. Totally wild and scenic for big fish.

Have you considered the North Fork of the White, above Norfork Lake? I think you're in southern Missouri at that point. From what I understand it's a stretch that's best approached via floating (not a lot of accessible, wadeable water, or something.) Supposedly it has a bunch of wild trout (rainbows?) that are quite a few generations removed from their first-planted ancestors. It seems like it would be interesting. I have no idea about guides for such a trip.
