Some jack hole helped themselves to 9 rods and reels and all the tackle I own that were in my boat in the last week and a half. So, I’m gonna have to start replenishing what was stolen, a life time of collecting tackle, so who all will be running sales for July 4th? I may as well try to make the most out of shopping for the new stuff...

Trust me, I'm MORE than willing to donate another 180 grains of lead to them if they did come back!

Hopefully my insurance will cover it all, execpt for what my deductible is. Just gonna try to replace what I can, but make the most of the money I'll be allotted. Made a trip to academy Friday to get some hooks and weights to go crappie fishing with my girlfriend and a little stuff to at least go bass fishing Monday and be able to throw a worm, c-rig, and a knucklehead. Crazy how fast $100 goes!

Thanks Captain, guess I'll be starting my wishlist now...

I am sorry for your lose...……….that sucks. I was reading your post and it said

" a lifetime of collecting tackle "

"9 rods, all tackle"

Was this on a lake ? What lake ? A dock on the lake ?

How much did the tackle, or rods and reels cost ?

It was not at a lake, but at my parents house. Looks like to best of my memory it’s gonna run between $3500-$4000, but then the deductible comes out. I’ll advise everyone to do whatever you can to protect your stuff. Its almost impossible to remember every type of lure, how many, when you got it and all the other info that the insurance company wants. I’m probably only remembering 80% at best. Some of the lures are priceless to me, because they were my grandfathers or a childhood favorite. I wish I had taken some pics of what was inside each box... Hindsight is such a marvelous thing!!!

Horrible news man... :-( sure HATE a thief. Go all ape [censored] on a person for sure if I saw them breaking into my stuff! Losing personal favorites that had sentimental memories and stuff is prob the worst part.

I had a friends boat broken into one night when he wasn't home and they took it all- batteries/trolling motor/prop/all rods/reels/lures/life jackets/etc.

Like you mentioned it is so tough to recall "what" was in what... each plano box could hold 20-30 cranks at $5 each or more. Tungsten weights/premium hooks/etc all add up quick too. I took pics and some video of what I usually carried in the boat and my insurance agent was shocked when I told her what it would cost to replace it all. So needless to say we have greatly "upped" my coverage on that stuff.

There are lots of fb sites that have gear on sale/cheap a lot- bass fishing yard sale/bass baits buy and barter are 2 of em. Here on TFF the for sale page is pretty good too. Craiglist can be good just make sure you are meeting up in a reputable area and bring those lead "donations" in case they are needed!

Sorry to hear as that sucks big time. I have several new reels and quite a bit of NIB hard to find older baits if your looking for certain items. Just PM me if so. I have retired from the tourney scene and getting rid of stuff I will no longer need.

Sorry to hear that. This is why I keep all of my rods in the house and lock all of my storage boxes on the boat when storing.

Thanks guys! It royally sucks to be going through this, but next time things will be much more difficult for someone to try and I’ve learned yet ANOTHER valuable yet expensive lesson in life! But after over 6 hours of keying stuff in on the computer, the contents or at least what I remembered has been filed. Now it’s a waiting game to see what happens.

This happened to me a long time ago while my boat was at the shop. I visited a few tackle shops in my area to see what kind of deal I could get on a large one time purchase rods, reels, and tackle. I was able to get a nice discount on everything. I spent 3000 on one trip to the store. It was fun. I had a grocery cart full of Shimano reels falcon rods etc. I still have some new rattle traps from that day. Sad to hear it happened but you get to replace it with your favorite stuff. Good luck. It is next to impossible to recall every bait in your box. I opened every box and took pix of all of them & their contents. Most of the pix look like a jumbled mess of lures but at least you have some sort of evidence of what you had to show the insurance company. Kind of hard to explain how you can have almost a $$ grand tied up in hard baits in 3 or four Plano 3700 boxes.

Wish you the best of luck dealing with your insurance company.
