Myself and my good friend Jeff fished the Austin area today. We fished Lake Austin from our Kayaks. We fished from 6:30am till 2pm. We used ultralight spinning gear. The bite was good. We caught Redbreast in the 8 to 10 inch range,Bluegill in the 7 to 9 inch range and a couple of bass in the 3 to 5 pound range. We found most of our fish in 8 to 12 feet of water under or by overhanging tree limbs. Rooster tails Chartreuse/Black and small crank baits Chartreuse/Yellow and Black got the best results. Caught around 50 fish total and all were released. We caught most of our fish between 7am and 10am. Bite slowed down a lot after 12noon. All fish were released! woot

Lake Austin in a kayak? How did you survive the wake boats and squirt bike drivers?

Nice report. Where did you put in (damn, 360, park or up river)? Glad to know that someone was able to endure the wake-boarders.

It was not that bad from sunup till about 10am. After that there was a few wake boats out that made it kind of rough. As we were leaving the boat traffic had really picked up. bang
