Lake Fork Anglers Hard Core (Major League Fishing format) is pretty cool getting to count every fish you catch.
As described below section 1 is all of Big Caney, Section 2 is from where section 1 ends and goes north to the FM 515 West bridge. Section 3 is everything from the 515 w bridge north.
Like the real TV show every fish over 10" counts. You must catch 6 LB + in one of the qualifying tournaments to move into the semi-final. We set it low so most of our members would make to the second level. But there is three ways to qualify.
Today they fished section 2.
The day started out with light southerly winds and clouds and hung in there until around 11 AM when that cleared up and the sun finally came out and it got hot real fast.
Boaters:
First place went to Bill Ailes with 17.65 on 5 fish with a 6.64 lunker caught on a baby brush hog. Second place went to Jack White with 10 bass for 14.64 with a 2.49 lunker caught on a Whooper Plopper. Third place went to Mike McWhorter with 2 bass for 7.01 anchored by a 6.40 lunker. Fourth place went to Dennis Bubinas with 6 bass for 5.03 with a 1.29 lunker. Fifth place went to Randy Steele with 2 bass for 3.54 anchored by a 1.49 lunker.
Co-Anglers
First place went to Charlie Abresch with 9 bass for 16.45 with a 2.74 lunker. Second place went to John Markos with 4 bass for 15.94 anchored by the Co 7.15 lunker. Third place went to Wallace Dyer with 2 bass for 7.62 with a 5.49 lunker. Fourth place went to John Berech with 4 bass for 4.54 with a 1.63 lunker. Fifth place went to Charlie Arnold with 3 bass for 3.99 with a 1.54 lunker.
52 Total fish were caught today.
For info on fishing this tournament and others put on by the Lake Fork Anglers contact me at sjbasser@aol.com or PM me on here. We have openings for both boaters and co-anglers right now. This is a club that fishes only on Thursday daytime. Dues are $5 a year.
All of our tournaments are priced for seniors as follows. $15 entry Payback of $12. Optional lunker pool 100% payback of $5. Optional 100% payback side pot for $10 per person.
In addition to this format that we call "Hard Core" we also fish our regular every other Thursday tournament, and a team tournament all at Lake Fork on a draw style fishing. All of our tournaments "paper" the bass and slot fish count.
If you are as "Hard Core" as some of us you can fish every Thursday like we do. And some Fridays too. And then Opens on the weekend. But you only really have to fish 8 regular LFA tournaments to maintain membership.
Hey we are seniors and we are supposed to be doing something to keep us healthy and our minds sharp and get some vitamin D. LOL At least that is what you need to tell your wife.
