Need help on next reel. 2 questions

1) Best crappie spinning Reel if price doesn’t matter?

2) Best crappie spinning reel under $100.

Variables:
Using braided line
Mostly 1/16th jig
Fishing vertical & casting

Any tips are greatly appreciated!

Shimano. Very smooth and workhorses. I like 500 series reels, but they are getting hard to find. 1000 series reels work just as good, just a bit larger.

I saw where Shimano is offering a Stella 2500 banana. The group I fish with is torn as some prefer small and light(500-1000) and the others (me included) like a 2000-2500 size. I don't like the reduced casting distance and increased line memory that comes with the smaller spool. I love the high end Shimano's and Daiwas and would be happy with most of their offerings. Under a $100, I like the Shimano Sahara and the Okuma's from the Ceymar upward.

I would either go with Shimano or Pflueger. Both are on my guide boat and worth every penny.

Without a doubt, the Shimano 1000 series reels. And if price is not an issue, buy the Ci4. I bought four of them about 8 years ago, and have never had a problem with them...and I fish 14# braid on them (which a lesser reel will not hold up to).

another one for shimano...
It's going to be hard to go wrong with whatever smaller reel you pick for vertical crappie fishing.
If I was tight on money, I would put more emphasis/money into the rod rather than the reel.

My choice also. I use the Black Max series. The smaller ones for crappie and 60 series for blues.

Shimano Sedona 2500 paired with a 8' P.A rod hard to beat - but may I add another suggestion.
Bass Pro Micro-Lite Elite (7 bearings) $40.00 paired with Bass Pro Micro-Lite 7'0" light / fast action rod $60.00. Spooled with 8LB Floroclear P-Line (Fluorocarbon coated). This rod helps me in the summer time with finicky feeding crappie. I have know problem boating 2Lb crappie with it, don't know about 3Lb crappie - YET!!

Bought a Lews MachII this spring. Solid reel, very smooth, paired with a 10' ACC.

Picked up a 100 size today for my 8' ACC

I'd Tack That!!

I have Shimano AX's, TX's, Syncopate's, and Symetre's two 500's and about 10 in 1000's. One older Pflueger, one Garcia Black Max, and one Quantum Optix in a 10 series. The drag system on the Syncopate's and Symetre's are by far the best of any of them with the Pflueger running a close second. The Quantum and the two lesser end Shimano's are tolerable. The Garcia Black Max is definitely on the bottom. I realize that for crappie fishing the drag system does not have to be near the quality as it does for other species but I just do not like a drag that is not somewhat smooth. Day in and day out the Shimano's and Pflueger are hard to beat.
