Hello TFF! Fellow North Texan here and in need of some advice. In the process of planning a fishing trip next month (July 9 or 10) with two boys and my dad. We have a two 15 year olds. We have several questions about going offshore fishing. I'm the only person that has been offshore fishing and that was when I was a very young kid. We have been fishing several times on Lake Texoma for striper. So first question is where should we go offshore fishing at? I understand that several factors are at stake on such a question. First lets talk about the early month of July would it be better to bay fish or go deep sea fishing? If bay fishing would be better then is Galveston the best place because of all the shallow water around Galveston? And if deep sea fishing is better in the month of July then would to be better to head further south toward Corpus Christi? I also understand that depends of the kind of fish we are trying to catch. So what is in season July 9 or 10? I'm not to interested in keeping the fish but my dad would like to keep some. Thank you for any and all advice, Brian.

I was thinking about 700 or 800 per person for the entire trip. Hotel, eating, and the boat.

http://hackberryrodandgun.com/This is a great place for inshore fishing and I believe they will go offshore also.
To whom much is given, much is required.

Brian, You have tons of options....but I'm not a great person to ask. I do know however, someone you can ask. His name is Willie and he is my "go to guy" when I have questions like this. He knows both inshore and offshore guides, who you should call, what should be biting, and he can probably set the whole trip up for you if you want.
too@outdoorstexas.com
Shoot him an email and he will get you heading in the right direction. He also sets up hunting trips...

I would look further south for both. Aransas bay, Laguna Madre for Bay and Port Aransas, Port Mansfield for offshore. Offshore you can still catch red snapper, Kings, cobia, sharks. I can't remember if the shimp boats will be out then but if so blackfin may be around. If you want a yellowfin trip I would look at Venice, La. Good luck!
I fish on a 14 ft piece of plastic.
