A woman slammed into my boat today on a jetski. I won't go into details but she took full responsibility and it was indeed her fault. She is going to file a claim Monday but in the meantime I'm trying to figure out what the heck I'm going to do with my poor boat. It's a 2010 G3 eagle 176 that was in mint condition. Paid 10k for it two months ago now it's got huge dent and gaping hole in it. the trolling motor head also cracked from the shock some how. I will post pictures. I feel like this is something that will have to be done through G3 because I want my boat looking the way it did before the incident. Any of you guys got a suggestion?

New hull. They will take everything off your boat, and put it on a new hull.

FILE ON YOUR INSURANCE!! Let them take it up with HER insurance company. It wouldn't be the first time stories have changed overnight.

There is no repair that is going to look right. There will likely be damage to the structure and welds that won't be visible without pulling the deck. The fastest solution would be to let your insurance cover the damage and replacement and then subrogate against her insurance company. Be sure to claim everything that is damaged, not just the hull, also any injury to you or passengers.

yeah, the boat is a total loss. you probably need to start thinking about a shop that will write you an estimate with a bottom dollar or a statement saying it is beyond repair and will never be the same again. be sure to tell who ever you file with you want the salvage value too because your considering keeping the boat. me, i would file on her ins first, if they accept liability, no need to file on yours, but if things don't go right with her ins carrier, only then would i file on mine

Well she is filling the claim tomorrow. and there were to many people around at my boat dock where she followed me back to that heard her say it was completely her fault multiple times. Including my father and neighbor who are both insurance agents. As for the hull. How would I get one like this if they don't make them anymore? I feel like I shouldnt have to settle for something less that's for sure

ins will pay a monetary value, they're not going to replace your boat for you. you go buy what you want with what you get for the value of your boat

This is the lousy part. If the hull isnt repairable insurance will only pay retail value of the hull. Leaving you stuck with a motor and trailer. Trying to find a replacement is sadly not their problem.

What about the shop cost of per say mounting my outboard on a new hull? And trolling motor damage? This is getting super irritating

Thats where the fight comes in. Also demand sales tax if its totaled. So you dont have to pay it twice.

The Trolling Motor repair can be done in 1/2 an hour, so depending on the shop's hourly rate.
You can order bottom housing from Jones Trolling motor or your own source.
Relatively easy to swap out.

Get a written quote on transferring all of your components to a new hull and submit it to her insurance adjuster, also the cost of parts and labor to repair the trolling motor. You are entitled to be paid for everything damaged. Collecting anything after they write a settlement check is going to be difficult at best.
It works the same as auto insurance. They will pay you the retail value of the hull based on age and condition. If there is a lien on the boat, the lien holder will be paid off from the proceeds and you'll get the balance.
This is where an agreed on value insurance policy statrts looking pretty good.
