Just to add a little more to the Champs Championship site discussion. It took less then 31 pounds to win the boater side down there over three days. Two of the top 12 boaters fishing today blanked. Keith Poche and Gary Clouse. Those guys are sticks. Congrats to local guy Keith Glasby on his third place finish on the Co side. I fished the Ray Scott Cup there in April and swore I would never go back.

Here's a link to the results.

I fished as a coangler. The Red River needs to be on the top 10 rivers/lakes not to fish.

Keith also choose to put his co angler on a few fish so he could win the deal he said at weigh in. Actually it’s peobably one of the better fisheries to see just how good u think you are.

It's a complete garbage fishery that even the local trails aren't fishing right now. But whatever chamber of commerce writes BASS the biggest check determines where we go. After all, they don't have to fish it.

^^^^This!

Tough fishing or easy fishing, still got to figure out how to catch the bigger bass. Usually the biggest complainers about tough fisheries are the ones who can't catch fish. Amazing how someone always figures them out and wins! I'm sure some keyboard fishermen were shocked to see the bass that were caught by Hackney on the Sabine in Texas waters. They are there, but you might have to work a little for them. That's what tournaments are about.....figuring out the puzzle.

It's a mudhole and the fishing sucks. The only reason any circuit would decide to go there is some convention and visitors bureau paying them a bunch of money.

I fished it 13-15 years ago and it was a good fishery and fun place to go. Now I hope I never go back.

I fished it and yes it was "tough" but honestly it shows who can adapt and overcome the situation. 4 fish for 5 lbs cut a check on the Co side. And neither of my boaters had a limit either day heck one didn't catch anything... Some community holes had 20+ boats on em all day and still guys managed to figure it out. If you can't "go down the bank and throw (insert fav bait here) and catch fish" some guys would call that tough and pack it in as they don't want too/can't figure it out.

The Red will be back. If we can stop flooding above 30' each spring and the bass spawn can happen without getting washed out. The grass and pads have come back 50xs what they were 2 years ago and I'm seeing/catching a lot of 6-10" fish that will be keepers soon.

There is a difference between tough and bad. Bad is when a pro wins with 30lbs in 3 days. That is a weak fishery plus that system is dangerous. There are too many boats that go to the shop after leaving there. Sure it forces you to adapt and focus but there are pleanty of fisheries to do that on that have good numbers and size of fish that won't destroy peoples boats.
