I have selected the heading up setting on my HDS 7 unit l. Even with the selection made the icon boat is center and moves right or left like it is north up mode. Is there another setting that must be made for heading up to function properly?

If you don't have a heading sensor (compass) (Point1) the Head Up setting does nothing. You can use Course Up so the direction you are traveling will be at the top of the Chart View.
