Who's digging the new stop and start technology in the new vehicles? I test drove a new Rubicon (never had a jeep before) and it quit running on me three times while at a stop light ... had to put it in park and restart it. Got back to the dealership and they explained the stop start feature. Confused, I read more about it later on line.

I don't like it ... neither the Jeep or the stop start feature. What's this world coming to? I'll tell my vehicle when I want it to quit running.

I rented a Durango in Seattle that did that. didn't care for it. You can disable it on those. but you have to do it each time you drive it.

If you've ever driven a gas powered golf cart ... it's the same. When you stop the motor stops, when you hit the gas the motor starts back up and goes.

Save .02 cents worth of gas and wear out a $500 starter motor. Works $150 battery pretty hard also.

I had a rental F150 that had it. Did not care for it. I heard there was a way you could bypass it but it was after I returned it.

Every vehicle I have rented overseas for the last 10 years or so has had that feature and almost all of them had a way to cut it off. It will be on every car over here soon. As long as they put a bypass on it, no big deal.

Im with you one hundred percent. But, it seems like all I hear about is people whining about gas mileage. Theres a thread on here right now talking about it. I dont get it. I understand people have to somehow rank whats important to them in a vehicle, but its just not that high on the list for me. Bunch of danged future Prius drivers on here is what we have.

Our Audi has it. I disable it every time it shuts off.

When the engine stops wouldn't the ac compressor also stop.

These new ideas are dumber than a box of rocks.

No. My wife's SUV has that feature and A/C keeps blowing when engine stops. Reality is you hardly can tell engine is not running when it does it.
