Same when I get home after work...as soon as I open my phone when I get home, it says "You have arrived at home". I have never actually entered my home nor work address into my phone. I assume it has the ability to monitor my movements and I guess "assumes" when it knows I'm at work versus when I am at home. Doesn't really bother me, but it is a bit creepy.

Orders are given to kill people with drone strikes based solely on smart phone metadata. The data paints a clear picture to anyone with access where youve been and where you currently are. Also, since were creatures of habit, it doesnt take artificial intelligence to figure out where youll be in the future when it comes to work, home, or anywhere you visit on a frequent basis.

Artificial Intelligence comes into the picture when advertisers or others with an agenda, use that same data, combined with other data streams, to try to sell you something, sway your opinion, or otherwise attempt to manipulate you by sending messages that resonate at a specific moment in time.

As a privacy advocate steeped in the technology, unfortunately I know were far beyond creepy. Many people get up in arms about various issues while losing sight of the fact you cant have freedom, free will or whatever you choose to call it, without privacy.

A friends son graduated last year from UT with a PhD in Philosophy. Something even his father characterized as a useless degree. After graduation he was recruited by an artificial intelligence company in Austin to write and oversee their company policy on ethics. Turned out to be a 6 figure job, so I gather the ethical aspect of AI does concern some of these companies. I just thought it was interesting that he found a job outside of teaching.

Correct. And unfortunately it appears your home will have to go now. That word could be read 5 times in your post too...and rules are rules.

While turning off your location services helped in the past with some third party apps, when iOS 12 is release, the next generation AI powered iOS will make your iPhone even creepier and visibly far more invasive than most people currently realize. Google is doing the same thing with Android. Urban is experiencing a soft roll out that both Apple and Google are currently engaged in.

They are monitoring your behavior to see just how much users will tolerate. In iOS 12, Apple is banking that most will love all the helpful suggestions and insights Siri AI makes while others will feel their iPhone has become demon possessed by Siri AI. For those that resist, Siri will soften the notifications and find a place most users will accept.

There is much debate regarding ethics in the AI realm because those involved know it will change peoples behavior on a global scale. If youre not part of the debate seriously consider joining the discussion.
