 Gun carry from Texas to Colorado

My son is planning a trip to Colorado but we are unclear on carry the laws in both New Mexico and Colorado. From what I have read, open carry is allowed in Both states. Any suggestions on particulars he needs to know?

How do you cross state lines legally. Does it have to be placed in the trunk?

If he has a LTC permit from Texas, no worries.
I would keep it concealed however, and let any officer that stops them know immediately that he has one, and where it is.

There are no border checks going into New Mexico or Colorado. You just drive past the welcome sign without stopping. It's no big deal. Guns are still legal there.

There are no border checks going into New Mexico or Colorado. You just drive past the welcome sign without stopping. It's no big deal. Guns are still legal there. I always stop at the first police station and show them my passport. They think it is funny.
