After living in the South TX area for over 38 years. Three Rivers/Pleasanton.

My wife are seriously considering a move to the Kingsland TX area.
Not looking for on the water property just something in that area.
I like the idea that there are several lakes to fish nearby.
If anyone lives in that area or has an opinion I would appreciate any thoughts on this idea.
Thanks

Don't live there, but I know from experience that The Slab, in the spring, can be fun for spawning white bass.

I've grown up in Burnet and Llano County. Kingsland is a nice Community but there are some parts to avoid. What are you and your wife looking for?

BrandoA,
Thanks for your interest in the topic I posted.
I was beginning to think there wasn't anyone from that area on this forum.

We are really interested in the Lighthouse Country Club area.
Plan on renting something first to be sure its the right move then probably build if we enjoy living there.
Thanks

Thanks for your opinion.
We realize its a party type lake and fishing in the spring and summer is limited to early morning or you will get swamped with the party boaters.
I did just take a look at Bass Champs weigh in results for 2018 not to bad for that lake.

LBJ and Buchanan have some great bass fishing. Problem with LBJ is that during the summer and warm months it gets flooded with idiots. Lighthouse in Kingsland is a nice golf course and area. If you are a golfer that would be a good choice. If you are looking for good quiet community on or near the Lake look at Cassie on Buchanan and the one on Inks. by the Bridge.

Lake Buchanan has a lot more room to boat, fish, swim etc. You may be the only people in Kingsland with a full set of teeth. L.O.L.

Those with a few teeth sound pretty high class compared to what we've seen on our first trip to and around Whitney.

I couldn't agree more, there's more money in Kingsland but both have a prevalent Meth problem.

that is sad,
but like you say that slab is great when the whites are running but the kayak paddle can make an old man out of you if you are not already.

What is it with the lakes and the meth? I used to night fish Canyon Lake and had a meth-head encounter every single time, usually multiple per trip. Out on LBJ area same thing, and around lake travis Spicewood area it is prevalent.

I've wondered the same thing.

I imagine they aren't the ones with the Water front homes, just the folks you run into at the gas stations and the boat ramps in the middle of the night.

I grew up and lived in Whitney for 31 years, and have traveled to and fished many lakes in Texas. It does seem that many lake communities have issues with drugs.

Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.
