Do you only night fish in full moon or when there is a good bit of illumination? Thinking about going tonight because I don’t have anything better to do. Good or bad idea?

I think it's good all summer no matter the moon. Definitely more active at night

When I was holding the bi-montly T on Alan Henry, we fished full moon or no moon. Bigger fish seem to be caught in the dark of the moon and more fish in the full moon, at least in my experience. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Amen, I'm going tomorrow and plan on fishing the next five nights. Black Buzz bait will get the big girls excited.

Moon phase has zero impact. Just get out there and fish!

I love fishing the topwater when moon is waning....the extra light helps to Silhouette the frog.
Definitely prefer a big [censored] C-rig creature when moon is gone.

Exactly the same experience for me from years of night fishing Fork. Full moon numbers. New Moon BIG fish.

I've been night fishN for 30 years. I always have a 1/2oz spinnerbait with #5 CO and a 3/4oz with #6 CO, a 1/2oz jig, and a big worm. Keep it simple and enjoy the cooler weather it is very relaxing fishing at night.

The day after catching a lot of fish is still a good day.

I have found that a lipless crank with a yo-yo retrieve around dock lights will catch them pretty good or I will go to a rocky main lake point and slow roll a black and red Colorado bladed spinnerbait

I don't, i would spend most of my day this time of year fishing offshore. At night i hit the bank a lot more than i would in the day. I still fish deep or offshore at night, but bigger fish are more likely to pull up and feed on the bank at night, IMO.

I think a lot of people over-think night fishing, bass are very effective at finding food regardless of the light. The dark affects the angler more than the fish.

All of the big fish I ever caught at night, including a 13+ at fork came on a big tx rigged dark colored worm. I fish the same areas at night just maybe on top of a ledge or hump instead of the deeper drops

My experience is if you think you are fishing SLOW, S L O W down. They seem to like a slower bite during the night, NO ALWAYS. Sometimes they prefer a ripping bait, but most of the time S L O W is better than a faster retrieve. KEEP SAFE AND WEAR YOUR LIFE JACKET, too. I generally go with a darker colored bait at night, even black or darnk blue CBs and SBs. Dark colored worm works well as well. Hope this helps. Report back to us on how it was. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.
