I'm trying to beat the heat with some night fishing. What is everyone's preferred method this time of year for white bass/hybrids? Fishing lights, working the shallows, open water humps/points? I've been putting in some work trying to nail down a pattern but I haven't had great success.

My wife just thinks I'm at the bar. I'm really out fishing.

I drop a light or two and just jig or drag a crank on the outskirts of the illumination.

At PK there are lot of green lights but I have better luck finding a dock with bright lights. This will hold minnows and perch and the bigger fish will come up after them.

John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

This is probably best tip I have. But timing is everything and with this water getting up it seems night fishing is less predictable than early morning fishing if youre talking about fishing bridges versus finding the fish and trying to gang them up with lights over points and humps and such. Seems in summer they just dont gang up around permanent light sources like they do in spring.

I have had excellent luck fishing lighted docks with bright colored crank baits just after sunset. Tried minnows but didn't have much luck.

Deep water docks with either green lights from below the surface or lights on docks that are closest to the waters surface. Always fish the area or line where light turns into dark. That is structure, ambush spot for predatory fish. Bucktail jigs tipped with curly tail worms work great, the larger fish as in double digit fish prefer live shad, gizzard, just outside the dark/light .Ur sonar will tell u where to set up !

I fish under a bridge close to a drop or channel or fish in deep water by the dam close to a point or hump. I hang 4 high beam headlights (1 off each cleat) over the water. I use 1/16 oz marabou jigs tied 5 in a line about 14" apart. I have sat under a bridge many a night next to someone who is using minnows and we bring in a ton more. I think they like the tiny lure better. We drop it down almost to the bottom and then reel up REEEEAL slow. No jigging necessary. Boat movment from the waves gives them all the action you need! Wanted to go on Saturday night but the wind was still kickin.
