Was able to fish all three of my days off this past week! June 6 fished Canyon Lake. June 7 stayed local and fished Mcqueeney. June 8 fished one of Bankers spots the Perdernales River around Stonewall! Canyon Lake: Fished coves around the Potters Creek area. Started out with the fly rod with poor results. Switched to the ultralight and was able to pick-up a few nice spawning Bluegill in 6 to 8 feet of water. Also hooked into a BIG BASS but lost it during the fight! Was able to catch several other nice bass in the 2 to 4 pound range. Bass were located in 6 to 8 feet of water and in 12 to 16 feet of water by stick ups. White Rooster Tails and small crank baits,Chartreuse/Black were the baits used. Fished Mcqueeney on the June 7 from sunup till around 9am. Wake Boaters became active! Caught some spawning Bluegill in the canals by Treasure Island in about 6 feet of water. Sinking Red Ladybug got good results. Also picked up some nice bass by the Treasure Island Bridge in 9 to 12 feet of water using soft plastics! Chartreuse/Black got good results. June 8. Fished the Perdernales River with my buddy Jeff. We fished the Stonewall area. Fished from 7am till about noon. Morning bite was good. Found some spawning Bluegill in 3 to 5 feet of water using a sinking crawdad brown in color. Also caught two Warmouth and a couple of small bass. Good stretch of river there very kayak friendly! Banks are thick in some spots with some heavy brush! It was great being able to fish all three of my days off. Will be fishing the Nueces Canyon soon with two of my fishing pals along with our girlfriends. Three days and two nights of camping! Did it last year and had a BLAST! woot

Awesome post LO! Glad you were able to get some good time on the water! How was the boat traffic on Canyon?

Canyon by far has been the most difficult lake for me to fish! Placid comes in a solid second. You either have a good day or a bad day catching fish. No in between. For me I have had to really work hard for every fish I have caught on both Canyon and Placid. I have also been skunked on both lakes more than once! bang

Another excellent report. I guess I'm going to figure out how to tie a sinking red ladybug. That seems to be your top producer.

During the fall I use a Brown Craw fish fly as my go to bait. The Ladybug is my go to spring/summer fly!
