Who's going out this weekend?

I'm going to try, I've got a couple new Evergreen rods to try out. Along with a new Daiwa Tatula SV.

@spazm09 - if your going for whites - grapevine bubbles are on - saw them from the dam yesterday - no clue if any schooling action yet though. I wish i could go out this weekend - but we have plans for camping/fishing next weekend so it is the honey-do's for me this weekend.

Good luck to those that do make it out!

Monday afternoon I'm headed out but can't decide where. Had to visit dermatologist last Monday and get carved on face. bang That sun is a killer... take plenty of drink and stay covered up.

Iconn4, sorry to hear that. I made sure sun screen was applied today.

Fishing was tough today. Pretty windy, really need to set my priorities straight and get an anchor lol. Caught a couple under 2 pounds with a D Bomb and 3 others, 2 around 4lbs and the other a drink, with craw pattern square bill. Had a good day but I'm done with the wind. Maybe next time I will have learned and got an anchor haha.

Iconn4, I have one of those caps with the "curtain" hanging down from about the ears and back. It does a good job keeping sun off one's neck. I don't like the feel of most of the face masks so I have been thinking of just fabrication something out of a cotton face cloth or towel, not certain. But, it could be wetted just to keep things a bit cooler while on the water.

*** Family in town but I got up Sunday AM and hit Lake Athens around 7 AM and it was sooooooo nice! The temps were lower than previous days by about 10 degrees, the wind was a bit high but okay back up in our cove.

I ended up with 8 LMBs including one 4 pounder, the rest in the 1.5 to 2 lbs. range. I was off the water by 10:30 AM. All were caught on a 4" Keitech shad like bait.

I would have gone out yesterday late afternoon, saw friends down there catching bass but kids hadn't left yet. Weather was great then, too.

Brad

I've used those type hats before but prefer the wide brimmed hats with a buff. Its all the years that I didn't that is starting to catch up. bang

Went to Monticello this afternoon. On water around 1:30 fished until 10 p.m. May be time to take up golf again. roflmao It was hot and the the fishing was slow, my least favorite combination. bang Caught a few on flutter spoon deep but it was work and not much size. Finally had enough and paddled to the railroad bridge a couple hours before dark and didn't catch a thing there. Then the bugs showed up.

bang

It was hot yesterday! Too hot for me so I stayed off the water.

We are supposed to have a few days of "cooler" weather early next week, that, and a chance for some rain. I hope we get both.

For another day, another topic: It'd be interesting for all of us to share the best lakes for hot summer conditions where there are ample opportunities to get out of the direct sun via trees, overhangs, protected coves. Some lakes are just so danged stark, it's like some poor soul out in the middle of the ocean in a life raft with nary a scintilla of shade to hide under. Some lakes/rivers have places to hide out a bit.

I'd be interested in that too. I wouldn't be able to contribute seeing as how I haven't gone out to any lakes on my yak yet. Went to Ray Roberts quite a bit years ago on the boat, but I can't remember anything about it.

Fished Athens this past Saturday; I hadn't been on that lake in a couple of years; DON'T forget your punching gear like I did.... Great day of fishing, but couldn't get below the mats without heavy bullet sinkers...

Wife is going out of town this weekend and she's taking our Daughter, don't worry she's not leaving me lol; so I think Sat and Sun I'm going to be on the water. Calling for lots of sun and wind so getting an anchor is on the to do list as well as more sun screen!

Highly recommend 10 lb mushroom if you plan to anchor deep. I hate carrying it but it will keep you in place. Just make sure you don't drop it in water deeper than your anchor line. bang

Going to use an anchor trolley ?

The SS127 is thin. I installed a yak attack lever-lok brand. I no like. several of the screws wont hold - thin plastic of the hull screw strips out.

The yak gear brand however uses well nuts, this is on my tarpon. I will at some point remove the lever lok brand and replace with yak gear.
