Question. I am putting a new Helix 7 G2N DI at my trolling motor replacing an old B/W Lowrance. Currently I have a Helix 998 SI (non HD) at the center console that I like pretty well. I'd like to keep SI at the console. I could probably sell the 998 for $400-500. I'll probably have Shutup and Fish install the new Helix 7 at the trolling motor and ethernet link to the console. So question is why I have the boat out anyway:

1) Do I just keep the 998
2) Why I have the boat at Shutup, upgrade to either
a) Helix 9 SI gen 1 - $770 (Is this really better than what I have besides the HD screen)
b) Helix 9 SI Mega G2N - $1299 (with install would cost me about 1K. Is it worth it?)

The mega is pretty pricy. I do have money, but am pretty frugal. I've been fishing for about 3 years so still learning and go about 2x a week. My kids are all grown now so I finally have time for me.

1. Yes, use it for mapping when you get another Helix for the console.

2. a-it is less "HD" display than the 998, just the Helix has a brighter display and comes with a Compact SI transducer=smaller than the 998 HDSI transducer=less HD image quality.

b-it has the top of the line SI transducer and 1200 kHz capability=sharper images

wayne p. or deisel doctor

freind of mine installed helix 10 gen1 on his boat , has si di transducer mounted outside, 2d transducer
mounted inside boat , y cable installed . what settings and where do you set it up. And do you manually have to change settings when you plane boat out.

thanks in advance

Set it up as you normally would. When using the Y cable the head unit does not care where the 2d signal is coming from. The Y cable is pinned out so the 2d only comes from the 2d transducer and Si/Di come from the si transducer. When combined withba Y cable the head unit will see both transducers as one. So all 2d will come from the shoot thru transducer

High Definition Side Imaging is the menu choice for the Connected Transducer setting. That is the default setting for that model.

Question: I have Helix 10 at console. I bought it RIGHT BEFORE(2-3 months) the mega came out, oh well. What model helix 10 do I have? It is a helix10 SI GPS I know that. 1st generation, second gen, g2n?? How do I tell? Im not familiar with these differences and benefits of each model.

I do not have a graph on the front. Most likely 95% chance I'll have to go the cheapest route to get linked graphs for shared navionics mapping on both. My goal is to be able to mark out my spot while idling and graphing at the console and then setup to fish with the front graph and troller motor using the same waypoints i just mapped out for my boat position and fish location or structure etc..

Id love to grab a helix 12 mega or a solix mega to put at the console and throw my helix 10 up front but thats very slim chance, ha. So long story short what graph would you put up front to use for mapping/DI that WILL LINK to my helix 10 SI GPS? Id like at least a 7" screen.

you most likely have the gen 1 helix. The gen2 helix si units are mega units.

You will have to go onix or solix to share mapping, helix and older core units do not share maps. You can share waypoints through the network though.

The cheapest unit that would network would be the helix 7 g2n. They come in several models, si/di/2d model as well as di/2d model or just gps/2d combo model.

All the 9,10, 12 models will network. None of the mega units will network the mega frequencies with your current helix. You could only network the 455/800 imaging frequnecies along with the 83/200 2d frequencies

I have several questions.
My current setup is 1199ci si hd at the console with transducer mounted outside the boat and 998 hd si at the bow with transducer mounted on trolling motor.
I am moving an 1199ci si hd from the console to the bow and putting a Helix 12 mega si at the console.
Do they use the same model transducer (if so, I will not move the 1199 transducer).
What items do I need to have high speed readings from the Helix 12? My current setup does not give any readings above approx. 10 mph.

Wait so sharring waypoints isn't sharring mapping?

I want to be able to graph at the console and mark waypoints, for example a brush pile, then I want to go up to the front graph/map and see the waypoints that I just marked on the console graph and be able to drive to the brush pile with trolling motor.

Do I need 2 separate map/navionics cards?

So when I mark a waypoint on either graph, it will show up on both graphs?

You will need map cards in each unit unless you go with solix.

Yes, you can mark waypoints on front unit and have it show on the bow unit.

Waypoints are saved to the units memory not the map cards

Can someone help with the steps to network a solix 12 with a solix 15 and ulterra bluetooth.

Currently i have the trolling motor hook to a 5 port hub. i have a cable between both units and the side image to the bow unit on the trolling motor..

I cant get the solix 12 to see the 15 and the 15 to see the twelve or the twelve to see the trolling motor.

Do you have an Ethernet cable from each unit going to the Ethernet hub along with the Ethernet cable from the ulterra?

Are both solix units running the same software?

I do. Just not sure what else could be wrong. I bought a second cable thinking maybe a bad cable

And yes they are running the same software. I didn't update them yet. I wanted to get this sorted out.
