I’m a catfish newbie and have no idea how to locate them. Could you guys offer any tips for catching some eating size fish around the Ennis area? TIA.

Any particular feature they’re relating to? I tried the riprap along the dam last week but didn’t have any luck.

I second the Danny King punch bait. There is a brush pile around the no wake zone float in love park cove lot's of eaters and larger. Tie up to tower if it's not crowded. Under bridge. Fish any brush pile you find and they will be there.

I agree with Jackie on the spots he described. Also you can try the cove where the Marina is located. If you have a cast net catch some shad or perch and fish the creek channel on the north side of the bridge. You also might try baiting a few spot with range cubes. That'll get their attention for sure! There's a lot of kitties in Bardwell. Good luck!

I'll be happy to show you where I go in a couple of weeks. I'm still recovering from knee replacement surgery that I had 3 weeks ago. It won't be too much longer though. Lol!

During the summer on Bardwell, we have had good luck drifting with shrimp and shad in the north end where it is shallow near Waxahachie Creek Park. We will catch channels and the occasional blue.

BMC, have you checked out Lake Bardwell lately? Curious if you were able to find any catfish?
