Those wakeboard boats are something else. Literally a whole lake to use and they gotta be right up on the dam where they see fishing boats. Unreal how oblivious people are.

That's where the calmest water is when the wind blows from the south.

I can see skiers looking for calm water but I always thought wakeboard folks were looking to make the largest waves possible for waking. Why not get out in the rough water for that?

I always thought that too, until a few weeks ago. A friend of mine wanted to teach my kid to wake board, so we had our first go in one of those rigs. While he was pulling the kids around, he would complain about the tubers making the water bad. Appearantly they want a nice clean smooth wake behind their boat. I will say he exhibited safe and respectful boat operation. He asked what I thought about his boat, and I asked him which seat the bait tank was under. He just shook his head.

Wakeboard boats are designed to create a wake optimized for wakeboarding. Some even have ballast tanks that affect how the boat rides in the water making the wake larger or smaller as desired. Wakeboarders want smooth water outside of their own wake hence why they stay close to the dam.

Was out yesterday 11-3 and the dam area really wasn't that crowded. Caught a few out in front of Lake Park, about halfway between the ramp and the dam.

The worst wakeboat activity I saw was the guy who ran parallel to the 35 bridge, pushing the largest wake possible, about 5 feet outside of the no wake bouys. Gave the guys tied up under the bridge quite a ride.

Its slowed down considerably just like it does every year when it gets this hot. The top water bite is active once the sun comes up at the dam. Main lake humps have a ton of catfish on them. This is the time of year I start focusing on Crappie for a couple months now that they have returned to the brush piles and timber. I refuse to troll however it can be affective. Good luck to all and be safe. Lots of idiots on ski boats this summer

Are you catching hybrids or sandbass on top or both? There looked like 20 boats at the dam on Saturday in a huge boat show but when we drove by I didnt really see anyone catching and the few fish that chased my spook looked to be the same size...

What time of day? I was out at the dam in the last part of the evening and got into a few good schools of white bass trapping shad at the surface. No hybrids though.
