It's amazing how long they will keep moving after you have killed them. I killed a rattler a couple years ago with a shotgun blast to the head. Left it in the road just in case. Came back an hour latter and it had slithered off the road. Shot it one more time "just in case" and chopped its head off with a shovel. Threw the rest of it on the driveway to show the other guys there. About six hours later it started crawling around. A little later it started flinging itself around real fast before finally dying for good. I'd never seen anything like that.
