I am not fishing, and haven�t been able to fish one of these major tournaments yet on Fork. . However, I am curious as to what to expect the day i am able to fish one. Do anglers fish with etiquette, or on these days is that out of the window (ie. encroaching on a spot, cutting you off, etc.).

You are speaking of days long ago. Very few anglers show courtesy anymore, especially in a tournament.

Just pull up and tie to there boat cleat is the method today. Least last Saturday when we had guided trip and another guide pulled in that close to us and graphed.

don't have a skeeter any more, but when i did, i got to see the best and the worst. just know that you will have at least a dozen other boats within a couple of casts from your boat, and some will respect your spot and give you distance, and others will get right in the boat with you, especially if you catch a couple of fish.

it's just like everything else - a few bad apples can ruin it. good luck and hope everyone stays safe.

Skeeter tournament has been pretty good that last few years I have fished it. No problems but I also keep my distance and move, but Mcdonalds is a different story LOL

Back in the early days of the skeeter, it was one of the more enjoyable tournaments we fished.. Everyone, well almost everyone showed respect for one another.

The event has grown so large that respect thing went out window, granted not all are idiots, for the most part it's still a very enjoyable tournament...

It's getting huge, there'll be boats all over the place, be carful, keep your head on a swivel, look before you make a quick turn right or left, and for god's sake don't shut down in the middle of a boat lane, that's just asking for trouble....

Ive been fishing SOT for 20 years and only had a bad experience once.

Did respect go out the window? or did the event's get too large. I think many ignore that lakes are more crowded then they were 20 years ago.

I have not had any issues in the ones that I have fished. Also have had some large areas all to myself. I have not seen much of anything during the events you don't see on a normal weekend at Fork. I think more than anything the SOT brings out a fair number of people that don't fish many tournaments and a fair number that do not spend a lot of time on the water. The things they do are not always done in a spiteful way as a lot are simply just unaware of what proper etiquette and such is. They mean no harm and most I come across are as friendly as can be.
That being said I can't recall anything I have seen out there that was really out of line or all that bad.

only issue I had at the Berkley event once I was fishing up a creek bank and a guy came in right in front of me and nearly bumped rub rails pulled right in front of me dropped his t-moter and all 3 guys started fishing they were so close to me I could almost get hooked on the back cast from the guy in the rear of the boat. i didn't say a word I just kept fishing casting across all of their lines and trolled between them and the bank they left never had a cross word.

Depends on how old you are. Etiquette is different than what it used to be. Uncle was a guide on Toledo in the day and we'd run 3 miles to a creek the size of Birch and wouldn't go in because of one boat.
