Like the title says, would you fish a bass tournament in a Jon Boat. Of course as long as the rules of the tournament allow it. The boat would be legal in all aspects and with some form of cooler live well. Would you be fine with it or would it hurt your ego too much.

I'd be fine with it. There's a man on here who fished a Fork Derby out of a jon boat and won himself a brand new Skeeter!

Been there, done that, as long as the rules would let me trailer.

There's been some spring tournaments i wished i had a jon boat to get access to water a glass boat couldn't get to.

My current partner fished a couple seasons out of a 2-man bass-buster with just a 12v trolling motor and an ice chest with a 12v 500gph pump - he won several club Ts out of that thing.

Yes sir, no problems with it. When holding our Friday night Working Mans Ts, many times I had to fish from shore, I have won 8 of the T's by fishing from shore. Some of the fishermen were jealous, but any one of the could have invited me to fish with them, but didn't, so I fished from shore. Not bad fishing by the launch ramp and knowing the lake pretty well. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck. We even allowed bass busters, too and they wons some T's as well.

LOL, I got beat out of an hourly big bass payout by a guy in a jon boat with a little 2.5 hp motor. It was near the end of the hour as he pulled up with a nice 5 lb largemouth. I was hoping he would miss the hour and be in for the following hour. Mine was a nice lake record smallmouth but was under 5 so I missed the hourly payout. Did place 13th overall for a small payout though....

Didn't Brandon Palaniuk have motor problems, stayed in one spot, rode back with the camera crew and weighed in a big bag to win a tournament last year? The point is the fish don't care what you're fishing from. The only difference would be over time, you will get less casts in due to the lack of speed of your boat getting from one place to another. Since it's a numbers game, you'd be at a disadvantage. But for any given tournament, your john boat will do just fine.

Reminds me of Harvey Penick's golf book where his student called him from the state tournmanet saying he's matched up against a golfer with a funny looking swing and that the student would kick his behind. Harvey gently reminded him that the funny swing got that golfer to the same finals match as his student's. I won't judge a book by its cover.

I must be a lot older than you Billy, I bought my lures from Western Auto. Sonic lures, remember those ?

I am a Senager. (Senior teenager) I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 50 years later. I get an allowance every month. I have PU truck and a bass boat, I am blessed.
