First off I know I should have taken a better pic. Next time I will. eeks But, has anybody else caught crappie that are "blue" on their back rather than the predominant green. I caught one a couple years ago but lately I have been catching them with more frequency. Have caught probably 5 or 6 over the last month. I had another one today and my buddy had one that had a slight green tint but was more blue as well. They remind me of the old Bomber "crappie" color crankbaits that I use to throw bass fishing back in the 80's. Just curious if this common.

Have a pond with black crappie in it, most will look gold in color and then about every 20th fish youll catch a blue looking one.

How clear is the water where you were catching them?

I've seen them up North "yankeeland" and Florida "black" water crappie get that golden color.

It's fairly clear (2ft visibility) but not gin clear by any means. Haven't fished many lakes in North or East Tx but it is comparable to Palestine.

This color is very noticable in clearer water...not very well versed on the subject, but I have noticed it too...maybe one of our technical experts could come up with a scientific answer...Ken, Leanin Post...any ideas?

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

I thought those gave the fish their greenish iridescence because of the guanine.
