Brass or lead with glass beads, the plastic beads don't make much noise. I recently switched from floro to braid and I cant believe how sensitive it is. Can feel when your weight hits the bottom. I never felt that before with floro line.

Braid gives much more feel but it snaps too much for me on the cast if anything goes wrong. I use 3/4 to 1 oz and prefer brass with a 3-4 ft leader. Typically, I can forego the sensitivity of braid because I usually know what I am throwing to. You can still feel the bite regardless.

I dislike plastic weights, so I always go with glass. Glass and lead for regular fishing and brass and glass for T fishing. I use 12-20# McCoys Mean green as my leader on normal mono, 20#. I will go as low as 12# major line if the bite disappears or I am in ultra clear water. McCoys leader helps a lot as it is alsmost invisible in the water as well. Not as flouro, but close. I change the size of my bead, based on what I am throwing. Up to 10MM or as low as 6MM. I also use a standard size 1/0 swivel for all my fishing, unless it is ultra clear water and then I drop down to a size 2 or 3. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

If your snapping braid on crig on cast either your knots sucks or your trying to cast too hard.if you cast smooth it will not every snap.same thing for big swimmers and cranks stop trying to force it just be smooth and it will go farther anyway

Never use glass with tungsten. It'll crack and fray your line eventually

Exactly! People that have not tried braid for their C-rig have no idea how much sensitivity they are missing out on. I actually do not like fishing with braid because of some of its handling characteristics but on a C-rig the sensitivity is phenomenal. You will feel it if a fish breaths on your lure. Also braid lends it self well to the side arm lob type of casts I make with a C-rig. Oh ya, the topic: lead weights for me.

I fished mine on braid for a long time and after talking to a couple of guys who fish a lot more than I do, I quit using it. The braid would cut into wood and get me hung up. So I am using either 20lb Big Game or Invisx, 15lb fluoro leader, 1/2 or 3/4 lead egg sinker, bead and a swivel. It catches fish.

I've never used braid as my main line on a C Rig mainly because I have had a few really good fisherman tell me that the sound of braid sawing over brush and timber is a real turn off for the big bass. I may need to revisit that though. Seems that lots of folks are using braid on C rigs. I can see how the added sensitivity would be a real advantage.

As for weight I prefer the tungsten cylinder weights on rocky lakes and tungsten bullet weights when fishing in areas with more brush and timber. For me the bullet style weight tends to wedge in rocks pretty bad. However, when my boys are fishing with me we use lead weights. They can burn through some $$ on tungsten pretty quick.

I prefer 1 oz. tungsten weights. If I'm fishing through vegetation or other cover, I like to use a bullet weight. If I'm fishing around rock structure I prefer a 1 oz. barrel weight.

Like others, I prefer braid, 50ibs. power pro. I use about 18" to 24" of 15-20 fluro as my leader. I know others rely on their side and down imaging to find the "spots on the spots", but I find dragging a fb jig or a rig around an area to be the very best way to find that very specific piece of cover the fish are relating to. Then, I try to throw to it at different angles, and mix in a crankbait for more of a reaction bite.

Probably 50 other ways to do it.

15 big game / 1/4 oz tungsten bullet / 15 fluoro for a leader. the fluoro will break before the big game will so I can get my tungsten back.

Line size goes up with the weight size.

Weight size goes up with wind / depth or longer leader length. I try to use the smallest profile weight I can get away with, I want the fish to concentrate on the bait not the weight.

If I'm fishing rocky areas I like to use as light of a weight and as small in profile (tungsten) as possible to avoid snags.
