Hey everyone. I've replaced guides on several rods and am venturing into building my own rods. I have the ProKote High Build epoxy that I've been using for thread wrap on guides... can I use this for cork grips and the reel seat? It seems that Pro Kote has a "Pro Paste" that they recommend for this, but I'm building this rod for a Father's Day present, so I'd rather not have to put together an online order and wait for it to get in.

If the epoxy isn't right for grips and reel seats, is there something that would work well that I could buy at a local hardware store?

Thanks in advance.

Never tried it but I would say you could use it only it's going to take much longer to harden and cure than the glue.

I don't know what is The Correct Answer, but I've made couple handles, and use them with pleasure smile
Epoxy I'm using for handles is regular Gorilla one from HD.
Works for me, and I have no intention to replace it with "correct" one.

Hey TexasBassDude! I wouldn't use ProKote to set your grips or your reel seat. Especially if you are using an arbor under your reel seat. It's not thick enough and does not have the best adhesion properties. Its best to use ProPaste Fast Set but I can understand you not wanting to place an order for some and you need to have this rod done quickly. (If you were near me in Burleson you could come by and use my reamers and ProPaste). In your case, I would swing by a local hardware store and get some sort of quick drying 2-part epoxy like Gorilla or Loctite and use it. Good luck and if I can help any more, give me a shout! (PM)

Thanks for the replies, folks. I have to run by Home Depot today for other things, so I'll pick up some of the 'normal' epoxy.
