they use tha same form as used for cars/trucks is where they get tha "empty" weight thing.. but if they would look at tha requirements for tha trailer registration is states gross weight.... bang

I've registered to many ta count boat trailers, both manufactured and home built, over tha last 40+ years and can't remember a time I had ta have "empty weight".. jus haven't done it in tha last 8 years or so!

I went to a different location yesterday hoping to get better results. Nope. According to the clerk I must have the trailer inspected too. She also stated that I must have the weight of the trailer alone without the boat recorded on the official weigh slip. So I am going to get the trailer inspected with the boat on it next. Then I will have to find/hire someone to watch the boat for me at a marina while I go get the trailer weighed. I hope getting the boat registered will be a little easier.
Fortunately not the case in Rockwall county. They should be able to subtract the known weights of boat, motor, and gear. Just being dicks.

So, based on the label only, my trailer should weigh 810 lbs?

I bought my boat in Arkansas in 2017. No inspection and no title required. Its a tandem axle ezloader for a champion 206. Your trailer weight max load is at 3925, very close to mine. Should be about the same process, tags around $60 ish.

All I can think of is the movie Zootopia and the DMV sloth. That about sums it up.

You got lucky then., In Rockwall county they require any over the road vehicle from out of state to be inspected in Texas

I had the same issue with my current boat. It was from Louisiana and to register it in TX, I had to go get a certified weight slip.
PITA...
But, I found a place a couple of blocks from work that has a very scale and had it weighed. The rest was simple after that.

I can get it inspected with the boat on it no problem. It is getting the boat off the trailer to have the trailer weighed by itself. I don't have the resources to get that done.

you do not have to go through all of that. The people you are dealing with are idiots. Just weigh the whole thing and be prepared to answer questions about weight of hull, motor, and gear

Find you a boat dealer that will lift your boat off the trailer so you can go weigh it. Just have boat dealer and weigh station lined up so it can be done quickly.

When I brought my boat from Oklahoma, I had to drop the boat in the water with a friend and haul the empty trailer to a certified scale. If you are near belton lake, there is a scale about 2 miles from the ramp at the feed store in town. A real pain but there was no way around it according to the clerk. I tried to give them the weight of the boat and motor but it did me no good.

Thanks Boomer but that is about six hours round trip for me. I think I am going to wait until the weather cools. Too hot to ask the wife to watch the boat.
