Lake Ray Hubbard sandbass fishing guide Johnny Earl Procell known as the Cajun fishing guide passed away today from a heart attack. He guided on Hubbard ever since it first opened back in the 70s.

Dang I knew Johnny since 1987. He was on my Humminbird prostaff when I worked for them.
Very good man. And very entertaining to fish with. He guided me to a 10lb 9oz hybrid in 1988.
RIP Johnny

Very sad. A friend & I hired him many times back in the 1980's. He worked very hard at the guide business. He will be missed.

When asked if he was going out with the
forecast of adverse weather conditions, Johnny replied no, saying he wasn't as mad at them fish as he used to be. RIP Johnny

RIP Johnny. Found out last night from my twin brother. We waved hello often when we crossed path on the lake. Johnny asked me about the Ipilot when it was new and he eventually got one from bass pro. He tolled his boat 30 miles+ one way almost everyday to guide for 30 years+. What a hard working man.

Sorry to hear this news.Prayers for the family. When I was turning wrench's on outboards in G.P. back in the 70's & 80's I had the pleasure of meeting this fine man.He would drop by the shop after leaving the fire house and spend time talking fishing and life in general. He will be missed by those who had the good fortune of being around him.

This makes me very sad. My boys and I have used Johnny's guide services a couple of times over the past 3-4 years. He was always a favorite of my two boys. I will miss his monthly Fishing Report on his website for sure, he was always willing to share what he knew about latest fishing patterns on Hubbard with others. Prayers to his family.

Very sorry to hear that Johnny fell asleep in death.... I never got to fish with him, but enjoyed a nice conversation with once out on Hubbard. I totally enjoyed/appreciated reading his monthly fishing reports too, he sure didn't mind sharing info to help other's to find fish. He was obviously a very nice guy who loved fishing & family. Prayers of comfort to all who knew him....

Rest in Peace! Johnny & I shared the radio airwaves each Saturday & Sunday morning for over 18 years on the Texas Fishing Show. Although I never fished with Johnny, I felt like I did each time he gave a detailed report of what was happening on Hubbard. He will be sorely missed!

Thanks,
