When spending the night at a hotel, what do you have on your boat that helps you sleep at night? I'm not so concerned about tackle and rods; i can either lock those in the truck or take them into the room. but what about the electronics (graphs, trolling motor, poles, etc)?

i'm not talking about locations like Lake Fork Marina (as an example) where you can back your boat right up to the front door of your room. i'm more interested in hotels, where you park in a lot and your room is not right there (you may not even have visibility to see the boat).

thinking about doing more of this (hotels) in the future, but not feeling real comfortable about leaving the boat in the parking lot.

ideas?

The Trailer coupler lock and wheel locks at provenlocks.com look great

McGard trailer locking lug nuts (be sure to get the trailer locking lug nuts, the regular McGard locking nuts do not thread on trailer lug bolts and will strip them)

Thick chain wrapped around axle then through wheels, then pad locked.

Boat cover

Electronics and gear in hotel room.

My son fishes high school tournaments,We stay at motels often. From what I've seen there must be a lot of guys with GREAT insurance or more money than they need. I pulled my little HDS5 off the first night. Then I felt like a fool ,cause the bad guy ain't gonna get mine when there's all these 12's and 16's stacked out on boats like firewood. The thief would prob feel bad for me and leave mine alone. Its crazy how many people leave their big units just setting up there like a flag blowing in the wind.

Lock R Bar gets my vote, takes care of all the compartments on the front deck except my day box. Also put a wireless baby monitor under the boat cover and sleep with it beside the bed.

Rods, tackle, PFD's, kill switch and electronics come out of the boat and into the room with me. Takes about 10-15 minutes in the morning to load it back in. If the weather is nice, I leave the boxes open so that our would be thief can easily see there is no reason to get in the boat.

I was in Alabama last year at the HS Nationals and was amazed that I was the only one that did this. Everyone else left everything in the boat.....
I will say that the staff of the hotel we stayed at had someone walking the lot all night long, which was much appreciated. I've never seen a hotel go to such lengths to make sure that the guests were taken care of. They even ran extension cords all across the lot to power strips for everyone to plug into. There were at least80 boats in the parking lot that week.

I have locks on my graphs and I lock all the compartments. I also arm the alarm system and put on the cover. I have good insurance if all of that doesnt work.

Auto alarm on mine with locks and sensors on compartments. Graphs and stuff locked in compartments. When parked on trailer motion sensor on truck and boat is on. When docked or beached boat motion sensor off and compartment sensors on....

If you catch someone stealing from your boat make an example out of him. For example if you made the 5 o'clock news and it said " guy tries to steal from bass boat and gets SHOT...

It's a shame we have to spend this much money to keep our stuff ours. All because liberal azz judges won't do their jobs by putting thieves in prison.
