if you had to choose between Ray Roberts or Lewisville for an early evening trip. Which route would you go? Actually have an afternoon free for once, so its time to take the kids out. I know ray roberts better but have seen better reports for lewisville. Will sand bass still school on top of the water early evening? ( no fish finder for me so its the old fashion way )

Ray Roberts is going to be less crowded with jetskis, skiboats, and other noisemakers. It's also better for consistently larger sandbass.

On the other hand, Lewisville has hybrids, and it's hard to beat a mixed bag of both sandies and striped fish.

When I use to fish Roberts this time of year the south side of Wolfe Island was good. Troll until you find a school then hit them with the slabs, Mepps, or Little Georges. I miss fishing both lakes and Grapevine since moving to Rockwall. I am close to Twok and that is about the only consolation. I prefer Grapevine over Hubbard or Lavon for sandies and even crappie. Now if the big hybrids would return to Hubbard it would be a different story.

Lewisville. Ray Roberts is a bass and crappie lake. Lewisville is a hybrid lake.

Also the boat ramp is about two minutes away from me

I enjoy fishing Lewisville especially for the chance to hook hybrids. Sandbass are really a bycatch to me.
