I've only been to Fayette a few times, and both times were during winter since it's a hot water lake...
How does the lake fish during the summer? I want to make a trip or two out there, but I've always kind of thought the fishing wouldn't be too great considering the lake is already damn near 100 degrees by itself, and the summer heat would make it worse. Am I wrong on this? Thanks in advance

I've fished it in June a few times. Did just as well as the cooler months - just hard to stay on the lake through the middle of the day.

Go deep. Lots of points to fish. Prepare to share water though.

Yeah i bet it does get a bit toasty. I remember our 201 Stratos we sold a while back had that built in cooler in the bottom of the boat. Dead winter at Fayette, by the time I made the run from Oak Thicket to the discharge all the ice had about melted.
I'll just have to bring a lot of a water and give it a go. I'm assuming Coleto Creek is the same way?

I've caught fish near the discharge in the summer it was 105 degree water, it wasn't as good as the rest of the lake but I still did. Look for offshore stuff between 20-25 feet, road beds, house foundations etc. Drag a football jig around, they will knock slack in the line, or drag a c-rig fluke.

For me, summer days at FCL is a lot like locating white bass on other lakes. You need to be proficient with your electronics in deep water to locate where the fish are stacking up as it will change frequently.
Now, when the red headed game warden shows up for a license check, she's a tall drink of water!
