I fish a few of the rivers in south central TX. The levels are markedly lower than just one week to 10 days ago.
It seems to have slowed the bite though I can still see some bass hitting the top every now and them. I caught three this morning on a creature bait. I got nothing on a spinner or bandit crank bait.
Still it seems like the bite is slower and harder to get.
Any tips for fishing lower level rivers ?

I fish the Guadalupe upriver from Canyon. Other than the pucker factor of stumps, I hae not noticed anything different.....always seems hard for me to catch them. My smaller cranks have been the best thing....minnow or shad colored.

It looks like we are going to have a early summer , look for some deeper spots and slow down some.
If it was easy, everyone would do it

I have paddled and fished rivers in Texas my whole life. For the spring fed hill country rivers like the Llano, San Marcos, Guadalupe, Medina, Frio, Devils.....I have never found a bait that catches river bass quite like a curley tailed grub on a jig head! Not the tiny crappie jigs but a 3-4 curley tailed grub on a 1/4oz jig head with a decent sized wide gap hook. Any color....as long as its chartruse! Many other baits can catch river bass but my experiences have been that if they are bitting anything they are bitting this swimming jig set up. Even during low water conditions pay extra attention to areas of moving water and especially the pools at the base of a set of rapids.
