Hi! I've been looking into getting a saltwater spinning reel for surf fishing down in Florida. I have been searching all over and my highest priority is weight and line cap.

The best ones I've found so far are the Penn Spinfisher 4500 and the baitfeeder III

I don't know I may not mind how heavy it is but do you guys have any recommendations? I will also eventually move down there so I'll be using it frequently.

Thanks!

PS- I am going to get a 10' surf rod and am aiming for a 4000 reel, should I get a bigger version? I've always been a bass fisherman so I am just so timid of how big the sizes are.

Line capacity is more a function of size than model. FWIW I use Daiwa BGs for both FW (2500/3000) and SW (6500) and have been happy with them. This review has a detailed analysis of that series.

Hope that helps.

Pfluegerr President 6940 will hold all the line you could possibly want. Good drag system as well.
Tight lines
