I use an Abu Garcia rod for jig fishing (not the veritas) and like it. Whatever you get, make sure it is heavy action. Lost some nice ones for a year trying to use a MH.

Falcon Bucoo Lizard Dragger will be your best bang for your buck. I have a few of these and they make great jig rods from finesse to football jigs. it's a 7' Hvy action rod with great sensitivity

Leaves you $30 to buy some jigs and trailers.

The man is right nothing wrong with the ethos hd plus if it breaks academy will gladly take it back.
Got a couple of their med crankin rods no complaints.
