i have a question about the lake - how is the salvania? read some posts that the salvania had almost disappeared due to the cold winter. what's it like around Johnson's?

BTW, I first went to Caddo with my Boy Scout troop (our Scoutmaster was a bass fisherman) in about 1967. I don't think Johnson's has changed much since that day. I fell in love with the lake from that moment.

Between the very cold winter and the spring floods, the salvania is knocked way back....it will start showing up again about mid summer... the Johnson's ranch area is real clean right now.

Sounds good guys I will let you all know when they are available. Once all the testing is done they will be ready.

Now on to the next cup of tea that is brewing to see if I can do any good with it.

I had sat down the other night and written a full review of the three Jigs listed above, as well as a couple others. The when, where, how to fish them...I was almost finished and the iPad went dead, and I lost all the review. Rather than go through that again, I will post up a review on another thread...when I get time, seems I have been running pretty hard doing everything but fishing this last week, and I don’t fish holiday weekends, I stay home and work, instead.

I want to sincerely than everyone who commented on my story, I grew up reading some of the old masters in Outdoor Life as well as Field and Stream. Nothing quite like a good story to take you on a journey with the writer. That said, I have another story to tell about Caddo, the following weekend with Porkchop, Caddoman, and CrappieXpress, that is very entertaining as well...I hope it will be worth your time to read. Again thanks for all the goodwill!

I am ready to release the weedless jigs now. They have been in testing and they are ready to be available to the public now.

Weedless Jigs will be $1.50 apiece and regular jigs will be $1.25.

If you have facebook I have a page on there https://www.facebook.com/MCMTackle/

If not talk to me thru here and we will get it figured out what you need. I have tons of materials so you are not limited to just the pictures of the ones I posted. You let me know what your favorite combos are and I can come pretty close.

Thank you and I look forward to doing business with you.

Thanks
Shane

The three weedless shown above seem to work best in different colored water...the Crapicat 3.0 (green one) works in clear/lightly stained water. The Mud Minnow (orange/Black) works in dirty/muddy water. Ole LSU works in between stained/muddy water. This is my experience so far. He has a minnow color that I like (not pictured) that works well anytime a natural bait presentation works...there is one inspired by CrappieXpress, that is Orange/white/chart in a 1.0 version...that will undergo a couple of iterations, as I like the color combo.

Abbott ties a great jig. To date, I have not had a jig unravel, come loose, or lose the tail rubber. That said I have had a couple that have had one or two of the rubber legs pulled off by fish. Some of these Jigs have caught upwards of 40 fish with no ill effects. I guess if I would quit working and go back to mostly fishing, I might find out how many fish one of these Jigs will catch, before it comes apart. Ultimately, I think the money On these Jigs is well spent. I originally designed these Jigs to work for bridge fishing applications and river fishing applications, where small Jigs with huge tail movement and a slow fall rate was needed. Ultimately, the heavier/larger bait profiles proved to be equally deadly in more applications than I originally scoped. To say that I have been happy is an understatement.

What I have found, in numerous occasions, if the fish will not bite your favorite plastic (for whatever reason)...pick a color combo that is close to your plastic, drop it and the fish will bite it. I have come across instances where plastics will out catch theses Jigs, mostly due to the fact, the plastics were heavier/larger than the 1/32 and 1/64 sizes I was using...that is why I had some upsized to 1/16 and 1/8...and I have had some made with hook sizes as large as 1/0, as well. Still trying to see how far these Jigs will reach across the fishing spectrum. They are not dock shooters though, as they will not skip! But as long as you can shoot to the crappie, without skipping to them, they will bite it!

hope this information helps.

Thank you Crapicat for the kind words. Like he said I can do about any combo you like. I have not had a single one come apart and I have been fishing my jigs for about a yr now.

There are a couple others that are fishing my jigs on this site we will see if they chime in.

I can tie from 1/64 to 1/8 right now. Thinking about getting a 1/4 oz jig here soon. For you deep water guys. The 1/64 is limited on color combos as I use a different size material on it, Unless you are wanting a size 4 hook or something like that. Any input is greatly appreciate as I listen to everyones suggestions. I am here to help u all catch fish and to make a good bait.

I am ordering about 6 to 7 body colors a month to try and see which ones are the top picks. I am also doing the same with rubber tail material. Now as for rubber tails the possibilities are endless. Not so much with the feathers.

Again let me know if I can help anyone in any way.

Thanks
