Only when necessary. Takes away the action.

I like to peg with the rubber pegs so I can slide the weight up if I want a light Carolina type presentation. You can do the same with bobber stops, but you need two. If doing strictly Texas rig, I still like to peg because I get less snags.

I've fished both, a lot. Finally just stuck with pegging them. I'll even throw one under the weight to protect the knot.

Doesnt hurt sometimes to go knot, then bobber stop, then bead, then weight, then bobber stop Gives you a lot of flexibility to adjust your set up depending on your surroundings and what the fish want

I peg 100% of the time. I use bobber stoppers most of the time. Growing up fishing heavy cover and grass all we ever did was peg. Its a comfort and feel thing for me. Tourney partner first peg as much as I do and we dont see s difference in catch rate.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways with a fishing rod in one hand, 10# LMB in the other, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and yelling "Wow! What a Ride!

I hardly ever do but probably mostly because of where I fish. Not a lot of heavy cover.

I think they should make bigger toothpicks so my peg doesn't slip so much
I like that tip with the black rubber bands, like those mojo stops

For me, it depends. If I'm fishing heavy cover or branches of dead trees, I'll peg to make the trail through the obstacles less prone for hangups. If I'm fishing rip-rap or a sandy or rocky bank, I won't peg and let the bait act separately from the weight.

I try both but it seems that I get fewer bites when I do peg it.
