As the mercury climbs into the 90's I retreat nearly exclusively to night fishing or at least "extremely early morning".....however, I don't fish shallow very often at night. Except for some topwater. Wondering if I'm in the minority on that? What shallow tactics do you use at night?
Headed out tonight for the first night trip of the year. Good luck out there folks!

Not much of a night time fisherman, but as I've gotten older, I tend to fish early morning till no later than noon on the hot days, unless I'm really whackin' 'em!

I used to night fish all the time. I don't anymore. Too many trees where I go now. My best advice is that night-fishing is counter-intuitive. For example, it's dark and the fish can't see, so it's intuitive to use bright lures, preferably, ones that glow in the dark. Wrong! Try black.

In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

Caught one of my biggest fish ever on a full moon on fork (13.60)
I always used a big tx rigged worm. Was using the old jawtech Terminator worm back then. Red bloodline was always my favorite

I'm gonna say it before someone else does, night time is good for two things and fishin' ain't one of'em. Get there at daybreak, fish till 1 and leave. If I ain't caught'em by then I ain't gonna catch'em.

I am a Senager. (Senior teenager) I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 50 years later. I get an allowance every month. I have PU truck and a bass boat, I am blessed. Conscience never acquits, it either accuses or excuses.

I only make it till 11 or 12, but I'm old and I need a nap.
Prepare for the future-it will be here tomorrow. Personal Best Large Mouth Bass 9 lbs. 12 oz 5/13/19. Herb Stein, who famously reminded us that “if something can’t go on forever, it will stop.”

night fish the same lures that you throw during the day. shallow is good. power worms, jigs, crank baits, and creature baits.

Since it is still May and there won't really be any moonlight, you might find the fish in very shallow water. I would try a spinnerbait, buzz bait and maybe even a chatter bait. Slow and steady retrieve would probably be the ticket. If those don't work I would go to Texas rigged worm, lizard, craw or your favorite creature bait. Black or black/blue in all baits. Not sure where you are going but I would stick with the clearer water in the lake. My general guideline for night fishing in the summer is to fish main lake points, ridges or humps with 20+' water nearby. I believe you catch fish that have been suspended over the deep water by day and finally decide to move shallower and eat at night.
