A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

I recommend he start with Long Beach to San Nicolas island. Once he's mastered that distance, then maybe consider going further.

Story didn't say, but I can't imagine not wearing a really good PFD at all times on that trek.
And having multiple forms of expensive, state of the art, emergency communication devices attached to said PFD.

Pretty good clue that he has a thing or two to learn about the ocean from the statement below about his new kayak. roflmao He probably went to handling school.

Its never been in the water yet, so Im not sure how its going to handle, Hand told C&K the day before to his original planned departure date of April 23. Thats going to be something to figure out.

After his prior failures he then goes out on a kayak that he's never paddled before? They should send him a bill for his rescue and snap his paddle in half.

I'm betting he used up all his energy trying to keep his balance, went over, maybe got back in and then had repeat until he just ran out of gas. Add additional water sloshing in hull and he was doomed. Either that or he fell asleep paddling.
