Question on Tawakoni yesterday we saw many black bass just swimming at the surface, some really nice size fish, not just all shallow but in several places in the lake. Anything like that noticed lately? Why?
I do not bass fish any so asking here, as much as I am on the lake I have never seen this before maybe a couple but not this many, a few were some real good ones. No other fish noticed or seen.
Thanks.

Black tails or gray? Bass will appear to have a darker colored tail in the water while carp will be more of a gray colored tail. This is the time of year I start seeing a lot of carp running the surface, especially in the marinas.

Saw them out there last week while practicing. Just looked like tired postspawn fish to me that you see on many lakes.

I had a 5lber come up to the surface and pace my boat while watching me for about 30 yards last week. He wasn't scared at all and seemed curious. I could almost reach out and touch him with my rod. He wouldn't take anything that I threw to him. When he got bored he swam back down and wasn't seen again. It was odd to me. Definitely large mouth.

have seen bass on several lakes do that. some are guarding fry and some are just trying to heal up after the spawn. back when Alan Henry was still full of big fish I saw some giants that would make your knees week. some would follow or get under the boat.
