After a long and cold winter the sunfish are back in the shallow water. This morning I fished in the Lynn Creek Marina crappie house for an hour just after 6 AM. I caught six "Joe Pool Special" crappie.(That is a crappie just under the legal size.) Once the sun came up I went outside to the pier and rigged for sunfish.
The bite was slow at first, but picked up soon. By 9AM the bite slowed to a crawl.
All of the fish are short by East or South Texas standards but long for Joe Pool. They are fat as little butterballs. I took home 25 for a couple of fish dinners.
I am sorry for the poor image quality. My new cell phone takes fuzzy pictures. I will hunt up my trusty camera for the future.
