You don't have to have the Link (where the TM is hooked with the Humminbird) to revisit a saved track or a spot-lock point. That's all saved on the iPilot remote.

Feel free to call me when on the water and I can walk you through on how to get your trolling motor set up for what you are wanting to do.

I am very close to pulling the trigger on an Ultrex...I think. The problem I have is I have to decide for sure which to buy. I am a Humminbird guy and do a good bit of bass fishing as well which leads me toward the Ultrex bit I have heard and read a lot of good things about the X5i as well and it is a heck of a lot cheaper! Not sure I would be happy with the stow and deploy on it and not having a foot pedal.

When my remote is working I really like the unit I have now. If it would spot lock better I would love it. There is just sometimes when I really need to be on a spot and cannot tie up to anything.

Check and see if Minn Kota is offering the new head that you can upgrade with. I heard that they were going to offer it then I heard they weren't. In the beginning I know someone that said they sold him one. If they were to offer it, that would make for an affordable upgrade if your unit is still good.

Had same problem with my Gen1 remote. Would give it a good wack on my leg and it would start working again. Put one of those small rubber feet/pads on top of battery and problem went away. Heard some say they put a dime on top of battery to keep it pushed down.

The original battery for the gen1 is 2450N. The 'N' is important for the battery to 'seat' correctly. A 2450 without the 'N' has a different edge and does not 'seat' correctly. You can mod the battery receptacle as some have done with above comments, or bend the tab connectors just a bit. When I found 2450N I would buy 4-5. They are also online.
