Did not know that paddlefish were reportedly sighted in the 1940s on the Trinity River (downstream of Livingston) TCEQ and supposedly stocked there in the 1990s

TPWD has been doing a few stockings of Paddlefish in an effort to restore their numbers.

I have seen several Paddlefish caught in NE Texas and SW Ark. The fish would come up the Red and then branch off into the Sulphur in Texas and Little River in Ark. Oklahoma has thousands of them in NE Ok., I saw many coming completely out of the water while fishing in a couple of crappie tourneys in Lake Ft. Gibson. Game Wardens said they are bottom feeders and that lake is deep and cold with no oxygen near the bottom so when they ran out of oxygen they headed straight up to the top, looked like whales breaching.
