I flew Spirit once. Never again.

I just booked a ticket from San Fran to DFW for Sunday on American. Discovered a whole new class of service: basic economy. It means that I can't reserve a seat, will be in the last boarding group and will not be allowed to use the overhead bin - just under-the-seat stowage. I suspect it also means that I will be considered sub-human and the higher-fare-paying passengers will be encouraged to hurl insults in my general direction.

Spirit is such a scam. By the time they've finished adding all the extra fees at the counter it'll be a $500 ticket. $55 carry on fee, and $50 checked bag fee. Each direction. Unless you don't plan on taking any clothes to Cabo... then your golden. Printing your boarding pass is $10 if you forget to do it at home. And on the plane a bottle of water is $3, Beer is $7, and cocktails are $10. Wouldn't shock me if they've added pay toilets.

Up in first class we refer to this as "steerage" customers. Please refrain from breathing our air while passing through our cabin.
