I’m taking my niece out for her first fishing trip on a boat. We are going to Whitney to target striper. I went a couple days ago and found some smaller fish by Mccowen. Is that a good area or are the better schools by the island? I appreciate any advice you can give me if not we will wing it. Should be a great day.

lets go fishin!!

How are you fishing? Live bait, jigs, slabs, trolling, etc? What techniques are you using? I was out the weekend before last and marked enough fish mid-lake that we never went further South. The fish were holding and active in 32-38 ft of water on flats. The mid morning and afternoon bite was on. Keep moving until you find fish.

We will be down lining Shad. I’ve never been good at fooling striper with artificials I’m better at just feeding them.

I would fish between the State Park boat ramp cove and McCown, close enough to the bank to throw near the flooded trees/vegetation. Big topwaters just after daylight; pencil-poppers, spooks, etc.
Swimbaits will work too.
That's what worked for us a week ago.

Also had some luck trolling late-afternoon between the State Park and Harbormaster.

I caught fish the other day trolling a crank bait along the rocks over between Cedar Creek and Katy Bridge in the evening right before sunset and dark but I would love to get her on some top water fish and then vertical jigging for them as well

Anyone do any good today at Lake Whitney? Burned 1/2 tank of gas and couldn’t find a single white bass. Any help would be appreciated.
