I caught some on Conroe 2 weeks ago in 18' of water that still had eggs, looked to my like these fish didn't spawn, the eggs were starting to turn bloody, or could it be that they were spawning deep?

I only kept 8 of the 72 I caught on my last two trips, but all the females had eggs. And that's from the upper half of Cedar Creek. But my shallow jig and bobber spots have played out. I think most of these late spawners do their dance a little deeper.

And BINGO was his name O!!!! hey man, more fish spawn deep than shallow, its mostly 2 and 3 year old smaller fish that spawn shallow for some reason,( possibly the bigger mamas are running them off of the best spots, and they wind up in shallower less favorable areas, (more wave action, predators, sunlight fluctuations, ect) now im sure someone is going to post a pic of a 16 inch hog they caught near the bank, that were likely there feeding on spawning shad in the early morn, but the bigger fish and majority fish spawn deep, 15 to 26 feet in my opinion. ALL OR MOST CRAPPIE spawning shallow has been an ongoing myth for many years
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Let the males go and keep the females...the males are the ones that guard the eggs/fry...when I get on an obvious spawning bed, hole, location...I always let one spawning female and a couple nice males slip back to the spot...usually there is a undersized female/male in the bunch, as well...

I was just curious about them still being full of eggs right now, went last Saturday and kept about 35 and all were females and had eggs in them. Seemed like they weren't just overly full though. All were caught 10 to 15 feet. Buddies caught a lot in foot of water and they had no eggs, guess they havnt all spawned yet

Spawn isnt over, caught some fish in a river a bit north of the state line that looked like they were a few weeks from spawning yet. All females had eggs all males were in war paint.

you need to turn loose all large males, it's the large males D&A that makes large crappie. if you want 2 to 3 pound crappie in your lake then turn loose the LARGE MALES!!!!!!!!!!

I kept 25 crappie yesterday. Caught From 8' to 14' deep. None of the females had any eggs left.
Stomachs were full of small Shad.
