The Ray Hubbard Bass Club held our annual Open Tournament on Saturday April 28 on Lake Ray Hubbard. 35 boats came out to play. The weather was about as perfect as you could get for spring in Texas which on Hubbard usually means fishing will be tough. Mother Hubbard gives up the goods normally when it's storming. This was a day of the haves and have nots. Lots of fish were caught but catching big fish was a mystery to a lot of us. A few teams really figured it out though as we had four bags over 20 pounds weighed in. Our 2018 Champions were James Sharp and Brian Brooks with a 5 fish limit that weighed 24 pounds even and included a kicker that weighed 6.64. Big bass of the day went to Doug Rener and Andy Medina who weighed in a 7.47 beast. Here are full results and pictures.

Roddy Bieber fished solo and had two for 3.55

Sevy Bartlett and Davis Tea had two for 3.94

Justin Gray had one, but she was a solid 5.62 big girl

Mike and Mandy Kizer had four for 6.16 and got photo bombed by Vince Burt for their trouble. smile

Pierre Rebollar (AKA Pierre Bass Angler) had a limit that weighed 10.59 that included this 4.07

Paul Villarreal and Joe Ruiz had five for 10.60

Their big fish weighed 5.04

Fourth place and the first 20 pound sack went to Cameron Laing and Patrick Sharp who had a stout limit of 20.60

Their big fish was a 5.21 donkey

Third place went to the team of Billy McCord and Keith Oldfield who weighed five for 22.04

Their big fish was a 6.47 brute

Chris Robertson and Kelly Jackson traveled down from Sherman to fish with us and ended up second with a great limit of 22.31

They had a kicker fish of 5.44

Here are our winners! James Sharp broke in his new to him Skeeter, and along with partner Brian Brooks weighed five for 24.00 for the victory.

Here's James with their 6.64 beast. Congratulations guys!

Thanks to everyone that came out and fished with us! Thanks to David Simmons for doing registration. Thanks to our TD's Robert Hitt and John Bruner who did double duty checking livewells in the morning and weighing fish in the afternoon. Thanks to Chandlers Landing for hosting us! If you are interested in joining RHBC and fishing with us, our next meeting is tomorrow night May 10 at Bass Pro in Garland. See the Bass Clubs section for details.

Our next Open tournament will be on Saturday October 20th. It's our third annual Fish For A Cure benefiting the American Cancer Society. We will have a guaranteed win payout of $3000.00 and big bass payout of $1000.00. Come on out for a great cause!
