I'm experiencing steering torque. It's not unbearable, but not slight either. My (new to me) 150 outboard has no torque tab. What do you guys like best. I assume I'm not the only one. Still learning....little at a time.

If you have cable steering go ahead and spend the money to get a hydraulic system installed if you can, you wont regret it

Some torque is normal, but if it is too much, then the motor is probably too high or you're overtrimming.

Installing this will cut it in half. Sea Star hydraulic steering will make a big difference but won't eliminate all steering torque. Different props all affect steering torque as well. Normally a 4 blade prop has less torque than a 3 https://www.starmarinedepot.com/th-marin...n0aApMvEALw_wcB

Can you add the "torque tab" back on?

If you have cable steering you need the torque tab.

I just replaced my steering a couple of months ago. Hydraulic was too expensive so I went with no feedback cable and couldn't be happier. Easy steering with none of that feedback you are complaining about. If I need to let go of the steering wheel for a second, I know the boat will continue straight. I think at 150 you are probably right at that point where cable steer is still easy and cheaper. If you have the money then hydraulic. Get a torque tab.
