Two beautiful mornings to be on the water.
Monday - Hit the water about 6:50 and fish were hammering the jig. Started in 5-6 ft in some stumps and caught 15 keepers before moving to other areas. Some of these fish were males in their spawn colors. Fished mostly shallow structure out to about 12 FOW. Tried several baits but the best success came on the Thermocline Ice Shad since that tends to mimic the shad best. Fish seemed to like structure closer to shore since that's where most of the shad activity is right now. Ended at noon with 35 keepers and about 12 dinks. Bite slowed by 10am. BFOD was 1.30 lbs. All fish returned for another day.

Hit Belton this morning about 6:45. First stop was nothing but 4 dinks. Headed to next spot and better quality. Had 4 keeps and another 3 dinks. Next spot had 6 nice keeps and the next was 5 keeps and about 10 dinks. Same pattern with the Mr Fry in Ice Shad being the best color. Fish are starting to collect on the BPs fairly well. But the fish are spawned out and rather thin. Good eating size but nothing big. BFOD was 1.36 lbs. From a side view, you'd think the fish was well over 1.5 lbs but they are skinny from the spawning period. Ended at 11 with 33 and at least 25 dinks. Again all fish returned. I've got enough in the freezer for now.

Great report and some good solid fish. It was a beautiful day for sure. I wish I would have been fishing more instead of working or cleaning up from the catfish tournament this weekend.
