For the money it is hard to beat the FX rods. I normally by Falcon but I'm real happy with going with FX on my last purchase.

If you like the Dobyns 805 cranking rods you currently own (and I REALLY like mine) I'm going to suggest you call Dobyns directly and let Gary or Richard walk you through all the offerings they have that will fit the kind of cranking you want to do. They are are more than willing to take your call and spend the time helping you. I have done it on three different occasions and the results have been awesome.

For small CB's the Dobyns 704CB will work better if you decide to look at Dobyns. They have a glass and composite.

I've always been partial to Falcons, but I just couldn't find a deep cranking rod of theirs I liked. I experimented with a bunch and landed on a Power Tackle. I've had it for about 3 years now, GREAT ROD.

I've been really impressed with my IMX Pro crankbait rods. I have 2 for shallow & medium cranks, and 2 for deep cranks. Personally, I think they're one of the best rods ever made for crankbaits. I had the old GLX crankbait rods and I didn't think much of them, but the new IMX Pro crankbaits rods are the real deal. Phenix makes a good crankbait rod too; the Composite X. The 2 that I've mentioned are better than the Dobyns crankbait rods if you ask me, and there was nothing wrong with the Dobyns.

I really like Kistler's KLX Feel-n-Reel hybrids. Its a composite rod, so you have the best of both worlds for cranking; i.e. graphite and fiberglass for sensitivity and give.

Megabass Orochi XX Launcher is a VERY underrated big crankbait rod. I have let a few people try mine out and all have went and bought their own. Some even bought multiples. If you look right now you can get the first generation versions for under $200 brand new.

Bought a new Shimano 7' 2" MH Glass Expride the other day from SW Parts in Dallas. Caught a bunch of fish on it the other day up to 6.5# on a big square bill. I guess it's on the hi-end for a cranking rod at $279 but unbelievably LIGHT!!
