I'm looking to upgrade to the new Minn Kota ultrex with ipilot link. I currently have a 45 inch shaft on a bass cat cougar 2008. Would it okay to move up to the 52 in shaft?

I have a 60" on my Rt188, it's adjustable, love the length in the wind and waves...

Yes. You won't regret the additional length in rough water. When I bought my Ulterra I went with the 60" shaft at first I was worried about hitting the head in shallower water but so far I haven't had an issue.

Ok thanks for helping with that choice , Now that I have the new ultrex 52" ! I'm having trouble mounting up new one in the same location as my old minn kota maxxum pro. The mounting pad takes up more room than the old one, which causes a bit of a problem especially with the area being recessed about 3/4" of an inch. It look as though I may have to use a thick rubber pad to form it up high enough to clear the front trim switches. Please give me any suggestion to help me mount it up safely and securely. I have a 08' Bass Cat Cougar elite !
